EVA28: Bridging the Knowing–Doing Gap, with the Controls to Take Back Control

Controls are the tools which – in the hands of the right people – are going to put this country back together again. At EVA28 – sponsored by RPC – a group of project controls professionals and industry leaders came together to learn more about how we can all be part of this Controls Revolution and the critical roles that Earned Value and Performance Management play in the process. ‘Another incredibly entertaining and educational day hosted by Steve Wake' said RPC's Chris Woodbridge. Find out more in our blog and by viewing the presentations from the day.

About the event

EVA presents a review and discussion of subjects related to the improvement of the processes and people involved in the delivery of project programmes and portfolios, ultimately delivering better value for taxpayer stakeholder and shareholder alike as well as improving the quality and wellbeing of working life for individuals and organisations. Audience and speakers are drawn from middle to very senior practitioners in government industry audit and academia.

EVA28 is a one day, single-track conference A full programme of inspiring and insightful 30-minute presentations explores resilience – both human and organisational – adaptability, innovation, sustainable practice such as Degrowth and Circular Economy and more. How will data analytics cope with a variable future? How can we establish project skills for all, disappearing the project manager so that everyone can do it?

The event is an opportunity to rethink and remodel. The ISO workgroup that is creating an Implementation Guide to EVM will be there, and we will be introducing the new BS202001 Project Controls British Standard. This new specification standard will describe a broader oversight horizon from inception of an idea through to final use, not just the delivery of scope.

Attendees will listen to, learn from and discuss topics relevant to immediate controls practice as well as gaining exposure to the latest in strategic thinking. They will also be able to learn about the sociology and psychology of their work to enable them to function better as individuals as well as in teams.

Proudly sponsored by RPC

RPC is delighted to be sponsoring Steve Wake’s popular and respected EVA conference for a second year. We understand the power of Project Performance – tracked through Earned Value Management – to transform the efficiency and outcomes of projects and programmes of all sizes and in all industries.

Having control of your projects and programmes and full visibility of all activities at all levels is key to the challenge of bridging the Knowing–Doing gap and we’re proud of the work we do in enabling our clients to achieve this through the implementation of fully integrated project controls solutions based on the Oracle Primavera product suite, and particularly our Unifier Solution Sets.

One such client, MoD DE&S, is returning to the stage this year to share the transformative results of their first year of working with RPC’s Earned Value Solution Set. Last year, they outlined the challenges facing the MoD in building a more digital DE&S procurement and support process and becoming a more data-driven delivery organisation. Now they are seeing the benefits of their new ways of working with our integrated P6 and Unifier Solution.
