RPC is always happy to take an opportunity to meet with colleagues, clients and fellow industry professionals to share knowledge, insights and experiences. It’s a particular pleasure to engage with new audiences and we were delighted about the chance to do just this in America this month.
We were honoured that RPC’s Technical Director David Hurren was invited to speak at the NDIA Fall 2023 Integrated Program Management Division (IMPD) Meeting at Oracle’s Redwood City base in California in September, to share insights into how an integrated and automated Earned Value Management System is helping the UK Ministry of Defence to improve efficiencies in procurement and to explore the possibilities for other industries and government bodies to do the same.
The IMPD is just one part of the National Defense Industrial Association, NDIA, working in the US to drive strategic conversations within military, government and industry sectors to promote all aspects of national security. Their September meeting was an opportunity to bring together representatives from industry and government to address program performance management methodologies, including Earned Value Management, and to initiate improvement initiatives and change processes to support those.
The theme of the event this time was the Future of Integrated Program Management: The Impact of Tools and Technology and we were delighted to be able to play a part in the conversations around that by sharing our own experiences and expertise.
Dave demonstrated how it is possible to manage all required EV capability, including cross-project and in-project EV reporting, encompassing WBS, CA, WP, PP analysis and reporting in one place.
By creating a fully integrated program management solution, this approach eliminates the shortcomings of traditional ways of working with silos of information held by disparate functions across a program. Manual data handling that is prone to error, information held across multiple Excel spreadsheets that may be inconsistent, unreliable and out-of-date reporting – all of this is eliminated at a stroke with a solution that is rigorous, auditable and secure. Each figure in the system is immutable: can be traced back to its root and verified at each stage.
One single source of the truth. A powerful and multi-faceted Earned Value Management Solution.
