Digital transformation in project controls

Latest News - 31 Jan 2024

We’re taking our project controls platform to a new market in the Middle East with a case study presentation at Project Controls Expo UAE

The latest new venue in the Project Controls Expo calendar – PCE UAE in Dubai, 13–14 February this year – has offered RPC the chance to explore a new territory for us and to find out more about working processes and practices and how they differ, or not, in the Middle East.

Having spent the last few years tailoring our Unifier-based contract management solution, created as part of a full programme controls solution for Dublin Airport, into an out-of-the-box Oracle product that meets the UK’s industry-standard NEC4 contract suite requirements, we’re looking out with a wider lens now to understand how other parts of the world and other industry sectors manage their project controls processes – and how we can build solutions that will help.

Even though NEC4 is not yet widespread in the Middle East, other contract standards, such as FIDIC are gaining traction and wherever you are in the world, large and complex projects, programmes and portfolios require robust, configurable systems to manage documents, approvals, change and more.

Knowing that airports are the fastest-growing market in UAE and Dubai, we’re excited to be able to share a case study of our Oracle Primavera Unifier-based Digital Transformation project for the daa (Dublin Airport Authority), demonstrating the total PMIS solution now in place there and the impact its deployment and roll-out has had – and continues to have – on the business.

We’re delighted that RPC’s Nathan Lambert is being joined in our presentation by Sherief Elabd, Director of Industry & Innovation Strategy at Oracle Systems Ltd. The highly configurable potential of Unifier as a tool and the innovative capabilities of Oracle’s Smart Construction Platform underpin the ability of the Oracle Primavera solutions RPC provides to synchronise activities and resources, connect teams and empower individuals to make well-informed, proactive decisions that drive continuous improvement across a project lifecycle. Sherief will be able to provide an introduction to Unifier for the uninitiated, context and local knowledge of projects in the Middle East where Unifier is in use and an understanding of how our work in Dublin could be applied within the UAE and beyond.

RPC was first engaged by daa to provide a Cost Management tool to support their major and ongoing project of airport expansion both in Dublin and at Cork Airport. Introducing Unifier was a big business shift at daa, but the success of this initial project has rolled out into the development of a fully integrated programme controls solution – all based around the Oracle Primavera toolset – incorporating Earned Value Management, Fund Management and Contract Management and providing all the necessary dashboards and reporting to enable the project team to keep on top of data and meet all the regulatory requirements of such a large, public-funded project.

It's a powerful solution and we’re looking forward to sharing it with a new audience at Project Controls Expo, UAE.
