APM Awards 2021: Celebrating the best of project management

Latest News - 09 Nov 2021

We’re dusting off our black-tie party clothes and hoping they still fit and getting ready to celebrate the successes of the project management profession at the APM Project Management Awards on 15 November.

At RPC, we firmly believe that a culture which harmonises people, processes and products also enhances the prospects of achieving project and programme delivery success. This is why we are delighted to be an APM Corporate Partner and to be Headline Sponsor for this year’s awards dinner once again.

Winning an APM award is a real industry accolade and a mark of recognition in the profession, but even to be nominated or subsequently shortlisted as a finalist is an achievement to be celebrated. The APM Project Management Awards showcase excellence, endorse innovation and have the power to enhance careers. We’re proud to be part of that and to be presenting two awards this year: Contribution to Project Management (Company or Consultancy) and Overall Project of the Year.

We are delighted to have been asked to present the Contribution to Project Management award at Company or Consultancy level. Nominees for the award can come from companies and consultancies in any sector, managing and/or delivering projects of any size and the winner will be an organisation that is committed to the positive and meaningful progression of the project profession and to delivering excellence in project management practice, thereby leaving a positive legacy for the project profession and project management practice.

This year’s three finalists are:

  • Balfour Beatty
  • PA Consulting
  • Turner & Townsend

Balfour Beatty prides itself in putting project management at the centre of what they do, delivering highly complex infrastructure programmes through to projects at the heart of local communities. They celebrate ‘the power of our people to drive innovation and deliver on our world-class projects in line with our strategy values and behaviours’ – a message that really strikes a chord with us at RPC.

PA Consulting were last year’s winner of this award and – inspired by that success – are proud to be nominated once more for the developments they have made in their P3M specialisms, enabling them to provide their people with added ability to define fulfilling and tailored career paths. They bring this internal learning into their work with clients, so that their successes and processes reach a wider audience.

Turner & Townsend operates from 111 offices in 45 countries, drawing on this extensive global and industry experience to transform project management performance for their clients. At the core of their work is a mission to drive best-practice project management across the construction industry, delivering great outcomes and supporting their people in doing so.

All three will make worthy recipients of this award and we wish them all the best of luck.

As Oracle Primavera specialists, RPC contributes expertise to implement world-leading EPPM products for our clients, to drive innovation and excellence in the project controls arena and to support industry professionals through training and the adoption of new processes.

We’re delighted to be able to join in celebrating the achievements of the profession together with an association dedicated to developing and promoting project management people, skills and processes. And we are particularly delighted to be able to present the Overall Project of the Year Award.

This prestigious award completes the evening and is the culmination of a period of difficult judging for the APM panel of elite judges. The winner of this award is chosen from the winners of the four Project of the Year categories:

  • Technology Project of the Year
  • Transformation Project of the Year
  • Engineering, Construction and Infrastructure Project of the Year
  • Social Project of the Year

Competition in these categories is stiff this year, ranging from mobile technology projects, AI, economic development, defence infrastructure, and sea defence construction through to an adoption support fund, nuclear reactor investigation and the introduction of a digital assistant in a school admissions programme. We’re excited to find out more about each of the finalists and to be able to announce the overall winner on the night.

Supporting success, innovation and professional development in project management is incredibly important to us all at RPC and the APM Project Management Awards are a big part of recognising and acknowledging that. Congratulations to all the nominees and finalists this year, and of course to the winners in each category. We look forward to celebrating with you.
