Integrated Oracle Primavera solution helps major expansion at daa to fly

RPC was first engaged by daa (Dublin Airport) to provide a Cost Management tool to support their major and ongoing project of airport expansion both in Dublin and at Cork Airport. Introducing Unifier was a big business shift at daa, but the success of this initial project has rolled out into the development of a fully integrated programme controls solution, incorporating Earned Value Management, Fund Management and Contract Management – all based around the Oracle Primavera toolset and providing all the necessary dashboards and reporting to enable the project team to keep on top of data and meet all the regulatory requirements of such a large, public-funded project.

Bespoke Training Solution for Ongoing Rollout

RPC was engaged by a large civil aviation engine manufacturer to support them in a programme of implementing Oracle Primavera P6 to manage all their resources across the business. A key element of the initial scope of the 2–3-year staged programme was to train around 300 users, using behaviour-based courses tailored to the client’s specific business processes and activities. The roll-out has stretched over 8 years now, with 6,500 delegates trained so far in multiple locations across 5 countries, and ongoing bookings of two courses a month continuing to add around 200 more trained delegates every year.

Moving Project Management into the Cloud

RPC was engaged as part of a wider project and tasked with migrating and upgrading the client’s P6 EPPM arm from their current on-premise solution to the Microsoft Azure Cloud. However, we also supported the client with their Web Services integration and at the same time, the client’s project management software was upgraded to Oracle Primavera P6 EPPM Version 18.8.

P6 flows at Glan Agua

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Glan Agua – an industry leader in providing project solutions for the water and waste water industry – was proactively looking to enhance its programme and commercial reporting on a portfolio and enterprise level as part of its growth strategy in the UK. Time was of the essence, as key managers suddenly, due to Covid-19, could dedicate time to join the initiative, and this opportunity was likely be short lived. RPC successfully worked with the client to carry out the implementation and training using remote access technology.

Actuals Planning Data Capture

RPC designed, built and supported a utility to transfer data from a legacy time capture system to update Primavera P6 with period cumulative values. The utility uses the Primavera API and can be manually or automatically scheduled to run.

Project Controls Framework Review

The client was experiencing project management and delivery issues and wanted an enterprise-wide assessment of its Project Controls framework and recommendations for improvement. In conjunction with associates Alliance Project Controls (APC), RPC undertook an extensive review covering business systems interfaces, communication and performance reporting, collaboration effectiveness, client interaction, Project Controls team competencies and awareness.

International planning solution for 600+ users

RPC designed and configured a solution to enable the client user base of around 600 users in multiple locations to migrate from Microsoft Project to the latest release of Primavera P6 on the Oracle Cloud. This new planning solution would transform the client's project management capabilities.

Project Costs Management

RPC specified, installed, designed and configured a multi-level cost management solution, with unique functional and technical challenges. The client required a synchronised revenue, overhead, direct and indirect cost and schedule solution managed through custom business process, workflow and approval capability.

Integrated EP3M Solution

RPC and Competitive Edge Inc. (CEI) collaborated on the design and configuration of a very complex multi-level solution, with unique functional and technical challenges. The client required differentiation between the master schedule and sub-schedules. Only the master schedule is aligned between SAP and Primavera, while the detailed schedules are automatically derived and aligned in Primavera only. At the same time, unsupported instances of P6 were upgraded to a single supported instance.
